Topic: Emotional Intelligence and Empathy in the Workplace

Brief Synopsis of Program: "Unlocking the Power of Emotional Intelligence and Empathy in the Workplace" is a dynamic training program designed to equip participants with essential skills for fostering positive relationships, enhancing teamwork, and driving organizational success. In this interactive workshop, participants will explore the principles of emotional intelligence and empathy, learning how to recognize, understand, and manage their own emotions effectively while empathizing with the experiences and perspectives of others.

Learning Objectives: The learning objectives for the training on Emotional Intelligence and Empathy in the Workplace include:

● Understanding Emotional Intelligence (EI): Participants will gain an understanding of the concept of emotional intelligence, including its components such as self-awareness, self- regulation, social awareness, and relationship management.

● Developing Self-Awareness: Participants will learn techniques for recognizing and understanding their own emotions, triggers, and behavioral patterns, enabling them to manage their emotions effectively and make informed decisions.

● Enhancing Empathy: Participants will explore the importance of empathy in building strong interpersonal relationships and fostering a positive work environment. They will develop skills for empathizing with others' perspectives, emotions, and experiences.

● Improving Relationship Management: Participants will develop strategies for building trust, communicating effectively, and resolving conflicts collaboratively. They will learn how to leverage emotional intelligence and empathy to strengthen relationships with colleagues, clients, and stakeholders.

● Cultivating a Culture of Empathy: Participants will explore ways to promote empathy and emotional intelligence within their teams and organizations, fostering a culture of inclusivity, respect, and collaboration.

● Applying Emotional Intelligence in Leadership: Participants in leadership roles will learn how to leverage emotional intelligence and empathy to inspire and motivate their teams, lead with authenticity and integrity, and drive organizational success.

By achieving these learning objectives, participants will develop essential skills and competencies for enhancing their emotional intelligence and empathy in the workplace, leading to improved communication, stronger relationships, and greater effectiveness as leaders and team members.


Meet our Speaker: Anita King, HR Advantage


Anita King is a Human Resources professional and long-time resident of Springfield, MO. Anita has been in the HR field for the past 22 years, after graduating with her master’s degree in Human Resources Development from Webster University in St. Louis. She has worked in several industries providing HR guidance and support. While she has held several different titles, Anita says her favorite aspect of HR is being able to help people navigate their personal career journey. Her areas of expertise are creating and presenting Diversity training, leadership development training and conducting employment investigations.

Anita has presented to her HR peers at multiple national HR conferences and was a SHRM Lobbyist for ACA Definition of Full- Time Employee, Employment Verification for Employers & HR Professionals, Fair Labor Standards Act Overtime Regulations and National Labor Relations Board’s ‘Ambush’ Election Rule on Capital Hill in 2015. She currently is the Training & Development Advisor for HR Advantage in Springfield, MO where she has the opportunity to create and present dynamic trainings in the community.
