Presentation Title: The Language of Leadership – Communication That Gets Results

    Program Narrative:

This session will address one of the most critical ingredients for getting anything done in HR: communication. We will focus on principles and practices for presenting your thoughts confidently, respectfully, and effectively. We will examine common HR work issues and how the Language of Leadership impacts each. These familiar circumstances can include having a difficult conversation with one person, sparking forward movement on a stalled project to a whole team, addressing an elephant in the room with your leadership, turning the heat of anger into the light of passion, and a dozen other daily occurrences that are anything but “ordinary”.

The principles and practices discussed will apply to everyone – no matter what role you play in your organization or in the HR Department. The session will close with a Q & A time so that participants can give voice to any specific concerns or uncertainties unaddressed during the presentation.

    Measurable Objectives:

 Discover the direct connection between communication and leadership (getting things done, achieving your goals, etc.)

 Discover why presenting strong and positive communication is vital to your

    organizational and personal success

 Discover the four main types of and reasons for business communication and how to maximize each type

 Discover four critical guides for any communicative act – email, in person one on one, small and large group proposals and presentations, etc.

 Discover a formula for shaping every common act of communication that Human Resource practitioners regularly encounter

 Receive encouragement and inspiration to accept the role of “Communicator Leader”

 Learn from and be inspired by the successes (and failures) of others

    Target Audience:

We can’t avoid communicating. Even if you try to avoid it – you’re still communicating. If we’re going to communicate anyway, we might as well do so effectively and in a way that benefits us and the organizations we serve. This session is for every HR practitioner who struggles to find the right words, the right tone, and the right time to address an issue. In short, this session is applicable and appropriate for all of us.

    Additional Relevant Information:

This session will be very participatory and interactive seasoned with humor and practical applications that every attendee will be able to integrate into multiple facets of life.
