2021 Legislative Update with Elizabeth Wente from Spencer Fane
About the Program: This presentation will outline recent legislative developments in Missouri and at a Federal level, how such legislative action could impact employers, and policies to consider implementing to address the new legal obligations. We will also discuss potential legislative action related to COVID-19.
Learning Objectives:
1. Understand employer’s new legal obligations in Missouri and at the Federal level.
2. Understand legal changes regarding employment laws that we could see in 2022.
3. Understand the practical challenges of implementing policies to address new legal obligations.
4. Understand new potential legal considerations related to COVID-19
About our Speaker: Elizabeth collaborates with employers to (1) develop a culture aimed at preventing employee issues; (2) address employee issues in a manner that will reduce the potential for employment-related litigation; and (3) implement practices and policies that will put employers in the best defensible position if they do encounter employment-related litigation.
To assist employers with meeting the above goals, Elizabeth prepares personnel policies and handbooks; drafts employment agreements and separation agreements; advises on non-compete issues; conducts a variety of supervisor and non-supervisor training programs, advises HR Professionals and In-House Counsel on compliance issues such as FMLA, ADA, and FLSA issues; conducts internal audits and investigations; assists with agency matters including EEOC and MCHR charges and DOL audits and investigations; and manages employment-related litigation.
