SAHRA currently serves over 200 members and is open to those professionally engaged in Human Resources Management within business, government, or the academic community.

SAHRA offers an array of opportunities for members to develop their professional skills through educational programs, idea exchange, and professional networking.  Member benefits include a monthly newsletter (SAHRA Biz), monthly programs, semi-annual professional development seminars, opportunity to earn HRCI credit, and other special events or workshops.  SAHRA is also actively involved in the community and partners with area educational institutions to offer volunteer support to students and leaders who will make up our future workforce.

Membership Types




Regular Membership

Eligible to vote and hold office

Regular membership includes Springfield-area professionals whose primary responsibility is in administration of the Human Resources function at any level in the organization they represent, or individuals who have been in the human resources practice for a minimum of 12 months. Membership is not transferable and remain with the individual original assigned to. 

Includes:

  • Practitioners
    • Must perform at least 50% of their duties in professional human resources work, or be a senior executive/administrator who has 100% accountability for the HR function in their organization, or be approved by SAHRA's Board of Directors
  • Academicians
    • Must have a full-time position as a teacher, specialist, or administrator of a college or university, and must:
           1.  be active in teaching or research work in human resources, following the receipt of an advanced           degree, or
           2.  perform at least 50% of the duties in the placement function of a college or university, or
           3.  act as the designated advisor to an authorized SHRM student chapter
  • Vendor/Consultant
    • Must be a current member of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), designate SAHRA (Chapter #0026) as their primary chapter, and understand that active solicitation of human resouce products and/or services at membership programs is not allowed, unless the solicitation is planned and a part of the scheduled membership meeting (as approved by the Program Committee and the Board of Directors prior to the program). 
    • The Vendor/Consultant membership includes:
           1.  full-time consultants practicing in the field of human resource management, or
           2.  full-time attorneys who counsel and advise clients on matters that relate to the human resource             profession, or
           3.  individuals who work for vendor firms that practice or provide service products for the human                 resource profession




Associate Membership

Not eligible to vote or hold office

Applicants who are not eligible under other membership classifications may join SAHRA as an Associate Member.  However, Associate Members must be active members of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) and must designate SAHRA (Chapter #0026) as their primary chapter. 

Members in this membership category must understand that active solicitation of human resource products and/or services at membership program is not allowed, unless the solicitation is planned and a part of the scheduled membership program (as approved by the Program Committee and the Board of Directors prior to any such membership program).





Student Membership

Not eligible to vote or hold office

 To be eligible and considered for Student Membership, an individual must:

  • not be eligible for membership under any other membership classification, and
  • currently be enrolled as a degree-seeking student in a four-year or graduate level Human Resources related degree program




 

Membership Programs

At SAHRA monthly programs, regional and national speakers provide members with up-to-date information to help them with their work as human resource professionals.  In addition, seminars and workshops provide members with opportunities to learn about specific topics, practice hands-on skills, and to exchange ideas and discuss problems and solutions. Monthly programs, workshops and seminars are all provided for a nominal fee and typically qualify for HRCI (PHR, SPHR, GPHR) recertification credit.

Professional Development

In addition to the professional development gained through SAHRA‚Äôs monthly programs, semi-annual professional development events are also offered. These events are typically scheduled in a half-day format and generally qualify for HRCI (PHR, SPHR, GPHR)  and SHRM (CP, SCP) recertification credit.  Professional development events are also provided for a nominal fee.

Publications

  • Annual Membership Roster:  A complete directory of individual and company members is available on SAHRA's website, and is only available to active SAHRA members. 
  • SAHRA Biz  SAHRA's e-newsletter is published monthly and reports on recent and upcoming events.

Annual Survey Results

Each year, SAHRA conducts a Compensation & Benefits Survey of organizations within the southwest Missouri area.  Results are available to all participants at no charge.

Membership Dues

Members can choose to pay a low, yearly membership fee per year, or can opt to add on the cost of 10 monthly meeting fees. 

  • General Membership:  Annual Dues Only - $45.00 (plus meeting fees)
  • Prepaid Meeting Fees Option:  Annual Dues and 10 Monthly Meetings - $265.00
