Who We Are

Organized in 1959, SAHRA is a not-for-profit association serving Human Resource Professionals in the Springfield, MO area. Our organization is made up of more than 300 members representing a diverse group of leading area employers from a variety of industries including: education, entertainment, finance, government, healthcare, hospitality, manufacturing, non-profit, professional services, and retail.

SAHRA is an affiliate of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), the world's largest association dedicated to human resource management with over 285,000 individual members in over 160 countries. The Society serves the needs of HR professionals and advances the interests of the HR profession.

SAHRA is one of the 575 affiliate chapters in the United States and subsidiary offices in China, India and United Arab Emirates. As an affiliate of SHRM, we gain access to additional programming and networking opportunities in our local area and nationally. SHRM chapters are autonomous organizations - being a member of one organization does not automatically make you a member of the other. SAHRA supports SHRM in its vision to be a globally recognized authority whose voice is heard on the most pressing people management issues of the day - now and in the future. SAHRA members are encouraged to join SHRM.

What We Do

SAHRA seeks to provide members with information about cutting edge issues in Human Resources and to create recognition for the Human Resources profession within our community.  SAHRA offers an array of opportunities for members to develop their professional skills through formalized educational programs, idea exchange, and professional networking. SAHRA is actively involved in the community and partners with area educational institutions to offer volunteer support to students and leaders who will make up our future workforce. SAHRA also supports and encourages its members to complete the certification requirements for the  Human Resources professional designations through SHRM and the Human Resource Certification Institute (HRCI).

Our Mission

The purpose of the SAHRA chapter is to ENGAGE, EQUIP, and EMPOWER the Human Resources community by strengthening those disciplines through professional development, education, and networking opportunities.

Our Values

We will demonstrate our commitment to excellence through:

  •         Leadership by setting an example for others to follow.
  •         Communication by promoting open and direct communication while respecting confidentiality.
  •         Professional Development by developing members to meet current and future challenges.
  •         Teamwork, Creativity & Cost-Effectiveness while ensuring integrity and confidentiality in the decision-making processes.
