Conducting Workplace Investigations

Missouri and federal laws sometimes require employers to investigate workplace conduct.  For example, anti-discrimination and civil rights laws require employers to investigate employee complaints and take appropriate remedial action.  Investigating complaints may also result in practical benefits to the employer.  It’s always best to address potential issues internally rather than have an issue escalate and have external parties involved.

Presenter: Karen Shannon, Director of Human Resources & Business Consulting at Ollis/Akers/Arney

Karen Shannon is the Human Resources & Business Consulting Director for Ollis/Akers/Arney.  Karen has served in senior leadership positions in banking and human resources for over 25 years.  She and her team provided HR services to 5,000 employees across the US, United Kingdom, India and Mexico.  Today, she works with over 100 clients in the Midwest on key business and HR strategies which have resulted in cost savings upward of $7 million.

 

Karen received her MBA and BA in Business Administration and Economics from Drury University.  She is a graduate of Leadership Missouri and serves on the Public Policy Task Force for the Springfield Area Chamber of Commerce.  Karen was recognized in 2000 by the Springfield Business Journal in its inaugural class of the Most Influential Women in Business.
